I've been keeping up with the long awaited news about GTA IV's DLC, the same stuff Microsoft apparently paid $50 million for. But it wasn't a new island that I think most people were hoping for, and obviously this news ain't new but I'd just thought of it. I keep wondering why build up a character like Niko, I mean there was clearly a lot of effort put in for a predominantly Western audience to relate to a Eastern European immigrant. Now theres nothing rascist or anything, I just think it was maybe seen as uncomfortable for people who usually liken themselves to the american anti-hero wev'e been given with each previous installment. Rockstar knew it must have been a huge risk and it paid off, Niko was one of the most impressivley developed and memorable characters of recent popular culture.
But anyway, why build up Niko to then swap him for Johnny no-name? Im not that pessimestic about how the DLC will turn out but im not excited either. GTA IV was one of the most advanced and incredible games of recent years, but for me it just lacked that wow factor. Im hoping for the best, and I think Rockstar are more than capable of producing quality material, just don't rest on your laurels R*.
Was watching this on BBC iPlayer earlier while I was trying to get some work done. I should probably highlight trying.
But Danny Wallace is a likeable chap, quite like to watch him on his quirky little adventures but this one was just interesting to watch. Makes me think about Judgement Day, I mean I love robots, but not because I want them to do my laundry etc. I suppose because of their design and their style, Its just always appealed to me. Much like Sci-Fi in general; pure escapism. Anyway, when robotics starts to imitate life It just gets weird, we all know how A.I. went down (you know, with the kid from 6th sense).
Damn the internet is full of strange and wonderful things eh? Phew, just too hot up in here. (Via deadrobot.com)
It seems its also full of nasty and funny stuff, but still nasty. Poor woman. (Via revenuerobot.com)
I just found this on another blog;
"3 rules of work 1. out of clutter, find simplicity. 2. From discord find harmony. 3. In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity." - Einstein ,Albert
Boom goes the timeline. Not sure what that means but it reminds me that yesterday while searching the interwebb, i came across a post on the ffshrine forums (i think). Anyway, this particular post was someones initial thoughts on who they would think would be perfect to direct, produce and act in Metal Gear Solid: the movie. Now not sure how many of you out there would think about this, but me and my friends have a heated debate/ discussion on this at least two times a year.
You know your'e always gonna get the schmucks that want Tom Crooze or Will Smith to play Solid Snake and think that Uwe Boll should be given unlimited resources to make MGS his 'own'. Blah, blah, blah.
Damn funny if you ask me. But let's clear something up, Sean Bean was always gonna be in this. ALWAYS. Just look at Liquid for chrissakes! I mean everyone is always gonna give their typical A-list wanted list, list, hell knows I would. I just think about if they ever get round to making it, it's just gonna suck. I really don't see another outcome.
Which also reminds me; Max Payne. I friggin love this game and for god knows how long was waiting for some news for a live action version. But dear god i havn't had the guts to watch it yet. I know it'll ruin every conceivable part and plain ignore the story. For fucks sake, who remembers Jim Bravura being young and black!!!???

Bah, I can't be bothered to take video game movies seriously anymore. I mean SERIOUSLY.
I am so selling Far Cry 2 next week, games pissing me off now. Drive here, drive there, drive, DRIVE AND DRIVE! It was really, well interesting and kinda fun being the realistic-ish game that it is, but damn after a few hours you realise you want to skip all the healing and talking animations etc, because you've seen em' a hundred times. Games pushing that sensitive boundry of realism are getting more prevelant. I think games should draw a line at things like Second Life and WoW. Did anyone see that episode of CSI: New York!!?? It's just a bit sad that people would sit indoors, staring at a screen doing things like going to the toilet and trying to make the sexy time with an AI. Come on!! Who plays that for fun? Actually...... Well i can understand that games will give certain people confidence to do things they normally would be anable to do, but whatever, I've gone a bit off topic, whatever that topic was. Oh yeah fuck off Uwe, no one likes you. And don't think about challenging me to a boxing match, i know kung-fu or something.
I might carry on with this engaging rant later or not. But right now im off to get my hair cut like an emo.
Well, I guess I should try and explain why I feel the need to join the masses and become part of the revolution that is the weblog. Tell the world how I'm feeling or something like that while I sit in Starfucks and sip on my gingerbread latte. I suppose I should be honest and say that I have no experience with something like this. I'm lazy and random, thats partly why I'm doing this, it gives me something constructive to do with my time. I mean I've already forgotten what I was gonna talk about and im bored of having to try and keep some structure to this.
So stuff it, basically I'll post things that I love, hate, find interesting or whatever just for the sake of trying to share it with at least one person. Who knows, maybe no one will ever read this blog, they might be confused to why I ramble so much or just think I'm a bit of a twat for just whatever reason. Or someone might read it and find out some moderately interesting info or want to stalk me.
Ah, and In my latest quest for popularity I've been updating my Flickr account so have a look if you give a rats ass, or not. Go on, give me some feedback. http://www.flickr.com/photos/jobot8000/
